1.
Don't wear the same pair everyday.
2. The heat and moister from your feet can "burn" the
leather, causing it to crack and shortening the life of your shoes.
3.
Let shoes rest for 24 hours after wearing them, ideally with a
pair of untreated wooden shoe trees, which will absorb the moister
from the leather and straighten out creases. There is no need
to leave the trees in, though. After 24 hours, they will be of
no further benefit to your shoes.
4.
Never dry leather shoes with a heat source as this dries the leather
and causes cracking.
Always replace worn leather soles with new leather soles, rather
than rubber ones, which don't breathe.
5. Always wear leather-soled shoes in dry weather conditions the
first few times you wear them. This hardens the soles, which will
help make your shoes impermeable the first time they encounter
water. |
