Another destination which is becoming popular is New Zealand.
There are about 8 state funded universities. It also has polytechnics,
named Institutes of Technology. Some of these are state-funded
and provide education and training from introductory studies
to full degree programmes.Nearly all areas are covered. The
mode of application: Students can apply directly to the universities
or through the Network of New Zealand education advisors.
The cost of education varies in different universities &
colleges. Scholarships very limited to academically outstanding
students only. The cost of living depends on the city or town
with average living cost around NZ$ 9,000 - 11,000 per annum
Accommodation facilities can be had in halls of residence,
students hostels, homestays, flats, apartments Part time employment,
it is possible to work 15 hours a week during academic session.
During holidays a student can take full time work for which
special permission and permit needs to be arranged. Academic
Session, from February to November. Some programmed also have
mid july intakes. Eligibility Requirements: These vary. Students
can get their qualification assessed by the New Zealand Qualification
Authority to get the equivalent in New Zealand. After Class
XIIth one can apply for undergraduate programmes while for
postgraduate after a graduation degree in India. Duration
of Study: A bachelor's degree is usually for 3 years, an honours
degree requires another year of study. In the postgraduate
study, a student can go in for a graduate diploma of one year.
The student need not necessarily have prior learning or experience
in the subject matter of the diploma. A postgraduate diploma
for one year, in the same field as the degree, A Masters degree
usually takes about 2 years.
